Imagine catching the biggest fish you’ve ever caught as an amateur angler. You pose for a photo with your trophy so you can have some proof of your accomplishment. The photographer says, “1, 2, 3, say cheese!” and at that precise moment, somebody steals your catch straight out of your hands.
Such things don’t happen, you might say. Even if fellow fishermen become jealous of a lucky catch, they’d at least have enough honor to respect your achievement.
But sea lions have no such compunction.
One quick and clever sea lion happened to be by the docks of Cabo San Lucas in Mexico. Without hesitation, he pulls the angler straight out of the man’s hands and into the water. They’re stunned. “That’s a crime!” the other fisherman finally says.
